Chiseled Cheeks | Marc Jacobs #instamarc light filtering contour powder review.

I have returned with yet another product review, I will be giving you guys a little insight on my new favorite contouring powder, the new Marc Jacobs #instamarc light filtering contour powder. The one I have is in the shade Mirage Filter 40.

I have been searching long and hard for the perfect contouring powder, and trust me, there isn't a lot of choices in Malaysia. The product I have been using since I started contouring has been the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit. I still really enjoy using that but I want to achieve a more 'model' sculpted face. I want my contouring powder to really mimic shadows that cast upon the hallows of my face, so the contouring shade has to be more 'taupe-ey', and less 'bronz-ey'.

I have been a long and devoted follower of Claire Marshal ever since I discovered her channel, watch her change her hair color from black to brown ( which is a pretty f*ucking long time ). Her contouring skills are off the charts! I am not one for the Kim Kerdashian contour, it's too much of a hassle for me, plus I feel its a bit overdone for your everyday makeup. Maybe when I have some big event then I'll give it a try, but for now I'll just stick to Claire's way of contouring. If you have not check her out please do, it will change your life.


Claire has always raved about her favorite contouring powder which is the Dolce and Gabbana blush in the color tan. Unfortunately, we can't get it here in Malaysia. Adding on more sad news to that, she also mentioned a dupe which is the Nyx Taupe blush but it is also unavailable in Malaysia as well. *criessoftly* MALAYSIA PLEASE UP YOUR MAKEUP AVAILABILITY GAME! So when I came across the Marc Jacobs light filtering contour powder I was immediately sold! I have only used it a few times and already adding it to my everyday makeup regime.

Here are pros and cons about it.

Pros 

• Highly pigmented 
• Great Color payoff 
• The shade is perfect for contouring ( Ash brown color that really mimics the shadow-ey colors of our faces ) 
• The highlight shade sets under eye concealer beautifully. Not overly white till you have the 'reverse panda eyes'. ( trust me, it doesn't look pretty )  
• Beautiful and sturdy packaging

Cons

• Because of the pigmentation, sometimes it appears patch-ey if not well blended ( so a little goes a long way) 
• I would prefer if the color was a tad bit darker and brown-ier. 
• The packaging is very immobile ( not travel friendly) 
• Quantity of the product is deceiving 
• MUTHERF*CKING EXPENSIVE retailing for RM149 in Sephora outlets.  

In conclusion, overall it is a good product but as a student I find it really out of my budget. I splurge on this only because it was my birthday. So I am still on the hunt for a cheaper alternatives, if you guys stumble across anything similar please let me know in the comment section below.

Cake Me Up Series | Foundation Reviews

In today's post I bring you guys a new series called 'CAKE ME UP'. Don't get deceived by the series title, it's basically just a foundation review. As ironic as the title sounds, not all foundation leaves you 'caked' up. Haha I will try my best to make this as informative and honest as possible. 

Things I'll be explaining: 

1. Product claims : What does the product claims to do. 

2. Packaging ; Packaging of the Product.

3. Texture : The texture consistency of the product and how it feels on the skin.

4. Finish : What finishes does it gives you. ( matte, semi-matte, satin, dewy, glossy) 

5. Coverage : How well does it covers your imperfections. 

6. Length of wear : How long does it wear. 

7. Flash back : Is it suitable of flash Photography. 

8. Benefits : What benefits does it offers and does it beak me out. 

First of all, if you guys know me well, I don't usually wear a lot of base makeup, normally a powder would do. I only ever bought one foundation in my life of using makeup which is my Chanel Perfection Lumiere. I really tried liking that foundation but I just can't seem to get sucked into it. It was way too heavy for my taste, and sometimes if applied wrongly, it will look really 'cakey'. I have combination to dry skin so it didn't really work for me. But on a higher note, it does exactly what it claims, which is to PERFECT your skin. It offers a medium to high coverage and a matte finish. So for you oily skin type ladies out there who wants a fuller coverage this will work wonders for you. But we're not here to talk about Chanel,

Recently the makeup trend in Korea is to have youthful, glowy, dewy, bounncy some may even call it oily skin. Because it supposedly make you appear younger, which it does in my opinion. Matte finishes gives you a more professional, flawless and mature look while dewy gives you a more younger appearance. Despite me being completely sucked by the concept there are cons in having dewy skin. It may make you look oily and shiny , and not suitable for flash photography, If you have pimples it'll accentuate them and may feel sticky on the skin. But other than that I'm all up for more youthful skin !
