Food for thought : Makeup

Hello again, ( blogging game strong)… First and foremost, makeup is not for everyone, and yes… I’m applying chemicals on to my face. Here’s the thing, there will always be a time and place whereby putting on makeup is appreciated, whether be it just a casual day out or a nice evening dinner. Doesn't matter the combinations, or the quantity you slap on your face, if it makes you feel more comfortable and confident then by all means. Women of all ages are aware of the pros and cons of makeup, some (like me) revel in it, visiting Sephora every week to see if any new products are out.  Others like to keep it simple, sticking with the basics. There are many who detest the stuff, either because they don’t like its feel on their skin, or don’t like what it stands for. Either way there is not right or wrong in putting on makeup.  But these days I've been hearing lines like…

‘boys prefer girls without makeup/ less makeup'

Well, to a certain extent men do prefer girls with less makeup, they claim that there’s a drastic difference between with and without makeup. There is no doubt that a good portion of men will gladly say women look prettier without it. While that's certainly a nice sentiment but there’s an ulterior motive to that sentence. No judgement intended but it’s always easier to for men to judge your appearance with a naked face. ( I say men because clearly women knows more about makeup).

‘She puts on a lot of makeup…. She looks ugly without makeup’

Makeup is not a surgical tool to reconstruct your face it only helps enhance your features and complexion. I don’t get to look like Miranda Kerr just by putting on makeup, if that’s the case then please let me know I’d gladly volunteer. X) To me makeup is a form of art, an expression and your face is the canvas. Why are we putting a ‘stamp’ on how an a attractive women should look like? (without or without makeup)  Does ‘beauty lies in the eye of the beholder’ mean anything anymore? Everyone deserves to feel pretty/confident once in a while, If a flick of some eyeliner or a swipe of some blush makes you feel more confident then you shouldn't let others scrutinize or determine how much makeup you should apply on your face. Girls will always be drawn to makeup because it taps into our primal urge to enhance our femininity and attractiveness. We are all ultimately the same, we put ourselves though a lot to look, healthier, prettier or even more professional. So girls and boys alike please I urge you all to stop judging each other.
